Environmental, Social, and Governance Report

In 2025, the Law Society published its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policy and communicated it directly to solicitors across Ireland. The policy represents a formal commitment to embedding ESG principles into the Law Society’s operations and broader influence on the legal profession.

The ESG policy is mapped to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that the Law Society’s commitments are grounded in a globally recognised and credible framework. It is also fully aligned with the Law Society’s overarching organisational strategy, embedding sustainability as a core aspect, rather than a standalone initiative.

Sustainability Collective

To drive implementation, the Law Society established the Sustainability Collective, a dedicated cross-functional team drawing expertise from across the organisation. This structure ensures that ESG is not siloed within any single department but is embedded across functions, with shared ownership of delivery. The collective provides the operational engine for translating policy commitments into tangible, measurable actions throughout the year. These efforts are supported by our sustainability partner, Antaris Consulting, Ireland’s leading independent sustainability consultancy.
